Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medical technique for unblocking qi by inserting needles at therapeutic points
on the body to balance the opposing forces of yin and yang. Qi is an energy that permeates all things. It flows
through the body along 14 main pathways called meridians. When yin and yang are in harmony, Qi flows freely
within the body and a person is healthy. When a person is sick, diseased, or injured, there is an obstruction of Qi
along one of the meridians. Traditional Chinese medicine has identified some 500 specific points where needles are
to be inserted for specific effects.

Tui Na

Tui Na, is a therapeutic form of massage and has been used in China for more than 5,000 years.

Practitioners use their finger, hand, elbow, knee, or foot to apply pressure to a specific body location. This complementary

and alternative Chinese medicine modality makes use of rhythmic compression techniques along different energy channels of the body to

establish harmonious flow of qi throughout the body and bringing it back to balance. By applying pressure to meridians, acupoints,

and groups of muscles and nerves, Tui Na removes blockages and works deeply with the positive energy of the body.

Herbal and Nutritional Medicine

The Chinese Materia Medica (a pharmacological reference book used by TCM practitioners)

describes thousands of medicinal substances—primarily plants, but also some minerals and animal products.

Different parts of plants, such as the leaves, roots, stems, flowers, and seeds, are used. In TCM, herbs are often combined

in formulas and given as teas, capsules, liquid extracts, granules, or powders. Nutrition and dietary therapy is an essential aspect of

Chinese medicine. The Chinese have known for thousands of years the correlation between what we eat and our health.

Foods can be used to heal diseases and build immunity.

Advanced Acupuncture Techniques: (offered through Akuma)

NeuroAcupuncture (Functional/Rehab Acupuncture)

focuses on the scalp’s microsystem to manage complex neurological and chronic conditions. By targeting

specific points that correspond with the nervous system, NeuroAcupuncture aids in pain management, enhances neurological

function, and improves overall quality of life. It is particularly effective for conditions such as stroke recovery, multiple sclerosis,

and neuropathy.

ElectroAcupuncture

combines traditional acupuncture with electrical stimulation to enhance therapeutic outcomes. By applying

a gentle electric current to acupuncture needles, this technique promotes energy flow, improves muscle function, and is

effective for treating chronic pain, muscle spasms, and joint issues. It is also beneficial for conditions

like arthritis and sports injuries, helping to reduce inflammation and speed up recovery.

Fire Cupping

Fire Cupping is an ancient practice that uses suction cups to create a vacuum effect on the skin, stimulating blood flow

and relieving muscle tension. The warmth from the cups opens up the pores and promotes circulation, which aids in

detoxification and alleviates deep-seated pain. It is often used in conjunction with other treatments to address respiratory

issues, back pain, and muscle stiffness.

Gua Sha

is a traditional technique that involves scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool to improve circulation and release

muscle tension. This method helps to reduce inflammation, alleviate chronic pain, and promote overall wellness. Gua Sha

is particularly effective for conditions such as muscle soreness, tension headaches, and stiff necks. The technique encourages

the release of toxins and enhances the body’s natural healing processes.
